Mind Your Food

Join this 12-week hands-on learning program to explore where food comes from and how it connects to the earth and our well-being. Guided by a professional chef,   participants will learn to prepare healthy meals and snacks while gaining a deeper understanding of the links between food, mental and physical health, and sustainability. Using food as a primary tool, Mind Your Food aims to promote protective factors through activities that:

  • Enable participants to improve their food skills to encourage informed and balanced eating habits
  • Share and celebrate food traditions to develop and support cultural pride and awareness
  • Create opportunities for meaningful community engagement to foster the development of prosocial behaviours, which means the actions we take to help others
  • Connect participants to peers, community role models, and other community resources to build their social and support networks
  • Improve participants’ overall teamwork, problem-solving, emotional management, and leadership skills

Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate of achievement and may even have the opportunity to return as paid peer advisors for future Mind Your Food sessions.

For ages 13 to 19.
