Newcomers to Canada
It’s not easy moving into a new neighbourhood – especially when you’re moving from afar.
Newcomers to the country who settle in our community are able to access support services from our Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Worker and can attend community events to learn about Canadian culture.
We also offer information sessions on topics such as housing, employment or childcare.
One-on-one appointments are available for individuals and families who would like support in some aspect of their settlement, such as learning how to: use public transit, find childcare, sponsor family, upgrade skills, become a Canadian citizen, and access health, language or employment services.
For more information, read about our programs below or contact our Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Worker at (204)938-5962
The Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Program is having employment building drop-in sessions.
You will be able to:
- Gain support to strengthen your resume.
- Have access to computers to develop your resume and cover letter, search and apply for jobs.
- Improve your confidence with practice interviews.
The drop-in is on Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm at NorWest on Alexander Resource Centre (1880 Alexander Ave) and is open to all permanent residents living in the Inkster area. Bus tickets are available if needed.
