Youth Employment Supports for Success: YESS
A 9-week paid program giving youth aged 16-29 the opportunity to gain the skills and experience to thrive in today’s workforce.
We teach employability and life skills, followed by a job placement, setting participants up for future success.
Training
4 weeks are spent at NorWest on Notre Dame completing employment skills training. Facilitated by NorWest staff and partner agencies.
Topics covered include: resume and cover letter writing; interview prep; communication and conflict skills; managing stress at work; financial empowerment and more.
There is the chance to meet employers, learn about future education or training possibilities and connect with multiple service providers to help achieve success.
Employment Opportunity
For 5 weeks participants are employed in a relevant field to their interests or skills and given the chance to put all they have learned into practice.
Pay
All hours attended are paid at minimum wage $15.80 per hour.
25hrs per week during training and 35hrs per week on the work placement.
