Volunteer Opportunities Spring 2019
Give back to your community, gain employment skills and have fun…
- Gain excellent experience in health services, social services, education, community development and customer service.
- Most volunteer opportunities are during the day, once per week, at the same time each week.
- Some volunteer roles require strong English language skills, social service experience or editing skills.
- Process includes application, interview, screening, reference checks, placement options, orientation and training.
- Volunteer opportunities are in various locations of the Inkster area (north-west Winnipeg).
- All volunteer opportunities have limited space.
Access NorWest Visitor Guide
Details: Greet community, help to direct visitors, information services
Time: Weekdays, 3 hours, during the day, various times, once or twice per week
Resource Centre Navigator Volunteers
Details: Community support, interact with community, program referrals, resume editing
Time: Day time hours, once per week, Mondays or Tuesdays, limited rest of the week
Note: Social service experience and/or education required, training, 4 – 6 month commitment
Parent-child drop in programs
Details: Interact with families, program organization, equipment set-up, clean up, snack preparation
Time: Tuesdays 1:00 – 4:00 Thursdays 9:00 – 12:00 Fridays 9:00 – 12:00
Food Program School Guide – month of May (apply by April 25)
Details: Support youth with food, gardening and craft activities; support staff with set up and clean up
Time: Mondays or Fridays 9:30 – 12:00 Thursdays 12:30 – 3:30
Cooking Group Assistants
Details: Interact with community, support staff with program organization, set up, clean up
Time: Fridays or Saturdays 1:00 – 4:00 Tuesdays 3:00 – 6:00 Thursdays 10:00 – 1:00
Community Lunch Cook
Details: Prepare soups, stews for 15 – 20 people, menu planning, food leadership
Time: Tuesdays 11:00 – 2:00
Chef Assistants – Community Food Centre
Time: Monday, Wednesday or Friday 10:00 – 2:00 Thursdays 3:30 – 7:30 pm
Greeter/Servers – Community Food Centre
Time: Monday, Wednesday or Friday 11:30 – 2:15 Thursdays 5:00 – 7:30
After school youth program assistants
Details: Crafts, knitting, activities, homework clubs Time: 4:00 – 6:00, days vary
Traditional Beading Program Assistants
Details: Teach traditional beading, create a fun learning environment, equipment set up, clean up
Time: Tuesdays 1:15 – 3:30
